Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The 60 Watt Apple Portable Power Adapter features the MagSafe Connector, a magnetic DC connector that ensures your power cable will disconnect if it experiences undue strain and helps prevent fraying or weakening of the cables over time. In addition, the magnetic DC helps guide the plug into the system for a quick and secure connection. When the connection is secure, an LED located at the Head of the DC connector will light. An amber light lets you know that your portable is charging, while a green light tells you that you have a full charge. An AC cord is provided with the adapter for maximum cord length, while the AC wall adapter gives users an even easier and more compact way to travel. Designed to be the perfect traveling companion, the adapter has a clever design which allows the DC cable to be wound neatly around itself for easy cable storage. This power adapter recharges the lithium polymer battery while the system is off, on, or in sleep mode. It also powers the system if you choose to operate without a battery.

1 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE! No seriously, just don't do it.   January 1, 2009
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

Proceed at your own risk. Hopefully you're reading this before you've purchased your item instead of after, like I foolishly did. Don't let the rating fool you. These guys will definitely try to pull one over on you if you let them.

I searched for an Apple Genuine product on Amazon and read the description for an Apple Genuine product. Then I clicked "More Buying Choices" to buy from one of Amazon's sellers. What you don't know is that they have intentionally classified this product on Amazon as a genuine Apple product, even though it's a third party knock off. Their tiny description stating that it's a third party knock off is easily lost amongst the rest of the influx of data you receive when price shopping an item. When you find the price you like, you trust that everything is on the up and up because this is Amazon and they wouldn't allow a seller to misrepresent a product like that.

Well, this IS Amazon, but unfortunately, they can't catch every single person before they do what they shouldn't. Luckily, Amazon rectified the situation and refunded 100% of my money thanks to their A-to-z Guarantee Protection Policy. I love Amazon and feel extremely satisfied with their help and support throughout this entire process. However, you don't want to have to jump through all these hoops to save a few bucks on a product you didn't actually want, trust me. Consider yourself warned.

4 out of 5 stars Nifty Adaptor   November 25, 2008
My adaptor actually came with the purchase of my MacBook so I didn't have to buy this separately. Maybe that's why I like my adaptor so much more than most of the other reviewers. Mine doesn't turn hot or hasn't melted (yet?)!

It can be inserted into the MacBook either way - meaning it's never upside down. There is a magnetic pull to it so it easily inserts. The light is "red" while it's powering up your MacBook and turns green once it's done.

It also comes with this nifty hook thing where you can wrap the cord around it (similar to a vacuum cleaner how you wind up your power cord around the two hooks). So far I'm very pleased with it!

1 out of 5 stars Perhaps the least reliable device ever produced by Apple   November 19, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

Apple has a reputation for making hardware that works reliably for a long time. This adaptor is an exception. If you have a Mac Book, you might want to pick up a spare adaptor. My first one quit working 5 days after the warranty expired. The replacement for it lasted less than a week. My third one (purchased through Amazon) is working but it is only day 3. Despite some reviews here to the contrary, the device sold here by Amazon is the genuine Apple product.

This device is either very poorly designed or uses inferior electrical components. It is a huge disservice to Apple's reputation to distribute computers with a power adapter this unreliable. They should be recalled and replaced with a reliable substitute free of charge. With no moving parts to speak of, there is little wear and tear. Thus, the components must be pretty poor.

4 out of 5 stars Good adapter for a good price   October 7, 2008

If your Apple MacBook adapter is broken, this is a good choice. The price (including shipping) was lower than a new adapter in my nearest Apple Store, and the standard non-expedited delivery was fast: less than 10 days, and I live in Europe ;) Thanks!

3 out of 5 stars Fallas en el diseno   October 6, 2008
0 out of 1 found this review helpful
