Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The D-Link DUB-H7 2.0 is a hi-speed USB 2.0 7-port hub that is backward compatible with USB 1.0 and 1.1. It provides an out of the box industry standard that allows connection of up to seven USB peripherals or devices to your USB ready PC or Mac. The D-Link DUB-H7 is targeted at PC and Mac users that are expanding the number of USB ports on their system.Designed to provide quick and easy access, the D-Link DUB-H7 provides seven type "A" downstream ports for connecting USB peripherals, devices, or other USB hubs. A single type "B" upstream port connects the DUB-H7 to the host computer or another USB hub, enabling up to 127 devices to be connected by cascading multiple hubs. Configured directly by the operating system, the D-Link DUB-H7 operates seamlessly with both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh Operating Systems. As a standard USB hub, the D-Link DUB-H7 buffers USB data from any attached peripheral in compliance with USB specifications to provide an invisible extension of the USB bus. Supporting both low speed (1.5Mbps and 12Mbps) and hi-speed (480Mbps) devices, each port creates a bridge between the peripheral and host computer.Diagnostic LEDs provide port status for each port and power status.

Amazon.com Product Description

Connect the DUB-H7 to your USB-ready PC or Mac and you're ready to go. With speeds as high as 480 Mbps, USB 2.0 provides plenty of bandwidth for your most data-hungry applications*.

Designed to provide quick and easy access, the DUB-H7 offers seven USB downstream ports for connecting USB peripherals, devices, or other USB hubs. A single upstream port connects the DUB-H7 to the host computer or another USB hub, enabling up to 127 devices to be connected by cascading multiple hubs. 4 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect Performance   January 6, 2009
I bought this hub to use multiple USB devices at the same time with my Sony VAIO laptop, which only has two USB ports. From the minute I plugged it in and connected all my equipment it worked nearly perfectly. I was able to burn a DVD with an external USB burner while the .iso file I was writing to disc was stored on an external USB hard drive. Both devices were connected to the PC via the D-Link DUB-7 USB hub. So the data was streaming from the external drive to the hub to the PC back to the hub and finally to the burner. It worked fine. Other hubs I have owned in the past had failed this test miserably. My only disappointment is that a USB optical mouse that works when I plug into the PC USB ports does not function while connected to the hub. I do not know why. The PC thinks the mouse is a new device and tried to download the driver from the web but it fails. This may not be the D-Link hub's fault but who knows?

Overall a great item. Better than many competitors.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect   December 24, 2008
Perfect for my needs now Im not trying to find extra USB ports on the computer.

1 out of 5 stars Must Change Plugs Every Time You Turn Computer On.   December 24, 2008

The hub I got requires me to re-plug my usb cords in to a different position every time I turn the computer on or my devices won't work. D-Link customer service is an even worse joke. After waiting on hold for over 30 minutes (twice) I was disconnected. As I didn't use this right away it was too late to return. Money totally wasted. A piece of garbage.

2 out of 5 stars Practically useless   December 24, 2008

Purchased so that I could plug my keyboard, mouse, and external harddrive into my laptop. Works wonderfully powering the drive, which would not power itself off the computers built in hub, but has major intermittent keyboard/mouse issues. I'm using a Microsoft Natural Ergo 4000 and a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer - neither have given me problems plugged directly into the computer or other computers, but plugged in to this hub I get mouse dropouts (even the laser light blinks out) and repeated key presses (every 1-30min, the last key I pressed will get typed a dozen times). This makes it incredibly frustrating when typing, and removes the value in the device. I've since plugged the keyboard/mouse directly into the computer and just have the harddrive on the hub - just as much of a pain as it was before when I have to plug/unplug everything to move.

1 out of 5 stars Does not do what it's supposed to do; terrible tech support and customer service   December 24, 2008
Simply put, this product fails to do what it's supposed to do.

Even plugged in, it still does not seem to draw enough power to supply more than three plugged items reliably. I had a keyboard, dongle, MIDI interface and USB DAW controller plugged in, and each time I restarted my computer, a different item would be unrecognized.

I tried tech support, and they were useless. Furthermore, they HUNG UP ON ME. Twice.

Finally a 'senior tech' issued an RMA for me to replace it, but I wasn't about to spend $10 to ship them a $30 unit, only to have it replaced with an IDENTICAL unit that probably wouldn't work as well. (There are plenty of other bad reviews here to corroborate my suspicions.)

I emailed customer support asking for a refund, but they simply chose to ignore my emails. I even told them that I would be posting my bad experience here, but apparently they decided that they would rather have the bad publicity than issue a $30 refund. Tells you something about the company, doesn't it?
