Works flawlessly.December 16, 2008 I bought this because I have a Macbook Pro and an older Dell PC and wanted to share a mouse and keyboard without unplugging them all the time. I was a little concerned because I have a merc stealth keyboard and a logitech g5 mouse and wasn't sure how well that would work, especially since my older PC only has one USB port left that can recognize my mouse. It works better than I expected. My devices are instantly recognized when switching back and forth, and my keyboard doesn't even reset it's backlighting like it did when I had to unplug it before. I also didn't realize when I bought it that there are five USB ports. One of the four buttons controls 2 USB ports, so you only have to use one button to switch a keyboard and a mouse. Brilliant. I should mention that the orange LEDs are big and very bright, which took a little getting used to.
kingston share central 5December 15, 2008 i was looking to hookup 1 printer and 1 keyboard and mouse to 2 computers for a long time. then i read about this product and was impressed. i bought one and am very happy with it. just plug in what you need and go. perfect.
Great, as long as you NEVER leave your chairNovember 29, 2008 Nice idea, bad implementation. Installed the software drivers, crawled around behind my desk to set it all up, customized the nifty magnetic buttons, and was happy for a while.
Then I discovered the tragic flaw of this device - you can't wake your PC back up with the keyboard or mouse. Often, you can't even switch the control from one pc back to the original to jumpstart the USB control. Every time I'd want to get going in the morning or after lunch, I'd have to unplug the USB cables, wait, plug it back in, maybe swap the controls, and then I could actually start working.
If that's the routine you're after, save the money and just swap all your devices manually, it's basically the same thing.
Works as advertised (Quite Well!)September 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm using a Sharecentral 5 mainly to share a keyboard and mouse between a PC and an iMac. Works just fine (no rebooting nonsense that other reviewer referred to). Also sharing a laser printer between machines and the device automatically switches between the two. I am very pleased (so far, so good!)
Completely UselessJuly 15, 2008 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Do not waste your money on this product, it is completely useless. It ostensibly allows you to use USB devices on two computers with the simple flick of a switch- it does no such thing. In order to switch a device (keyboard, mouse, external hard drive)you must restart your computer- the switches on the product do nothing. I have only been able to get it to work by physically unpluggin the cables and plugging them back in (both the cable to the computer and the cable to the USB device). As a result, I'm actually unplugging and replugging twice as many cables as I would have to if I'd never wasted 60 bucks on this paperweight.
