I got the idea to give my neighbor's 5-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son "Kiddy Cameras" for Christmas. My Internet research showed, however, that most children's cameras are low resolution (as low as 320x240) and produce poor quality pictures. I decided to try a couple of Philips 3.0 Megapixel Camera with 4X Digital Zoom and 2" LCD. While inexpensive, these cameras are certainly not a kid's toys.
Before I gave them away I subjected them to a thorough checkout to see what they were capable of doing. I was very happy with my test results. It is quite a decent little camera, especially for the price.
I have a naturally white beard so after wrapping the presents I put on my red fleece jacket and my "Santa" hat and set out to delivered my gifts.
My only question was; "Is the little 5-year-old going to be able to use it all by herself?" She took to it like a duck to water. I just had to show her once how to turn it on, zoom, turn on the flash, view the pics and she was off and running.
The kids really love their "Real Adult Cameras". They couldn't be happier with their Christmas presents. Especially since they weren't expecting to get anything for Christmas. It's not that they were bad little children. You see, little Nabiha and her brother Adil just happen to be Muslims.
