Amazon.com Product Description
The iHM7 from iHome is the perfect stereo speaker system for your iPod, iPhone, Macbook, or any other laptop or MP3 player. These speakers attach magnetically in a capsule shape for ultimate portability, then separate and extend for surprisingly big stereo sound in a small package.
Fold Up and Go The iHM7 features a pair of collapsible speakers connected by a spring system. When you want to use them, you just give them a quick twist, and the speakers extend. The rubberized paint texture gives them a great look and soft feel, perfect for frequent use.
When folded up, the speakers attach magnetically for portability, in a capsule shape. A protective carry case and cord wrap are also included for added convenience.
Audio Jack Connect most any audio device thanks to the standard 3.5-mm audio jack: all iPod/iPhone models, MP3 players, CD players--you name it. An audio cable is also supplied in case you don't have one lying around.
Great for Laptops The iHM7 is perfect for enhancing the movie/music experience on laptops. Throw it in your laptop bag, and you'll have a convenient speaker system wherever life takes you, with a little more "oomph" than those built-in laptop speakers.
Great Sound The iHM7 boasts a custom-tuned vacuum bass design, allowing it to deliver a low-frequency response and overall sound beyond its size.
USB Charging With long-lasting li-ion rechargeable batteries built in, the iHM7 gives you plenty of playback time. When you do need a charge, grab the included USB cable and connect to any USB port, such as those on your computer, and you'll be set.
What's in the Box iHM7 Speaker System (Black), 3.5-mm audio cable, USB cable, and user's manual.
I LOVE THIS LITTLE THINGSeptember 1, 2010 M. J. Chae I LOVE IT. It is so small and cute, and has a HUGE, AMAZING SOUND. It's certainly no Bose, but it's very close. My mom scoffed when she saw this tiny thing, but as soon as I turned on "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", her eyes flew right open. It is definitely well built and feels great. I love this so much, I might love it more than my iPod Classic 160GB that I ordered with it.
It comes packaged with 2 great bonuses: a marble-bag-esque black carrying bag, and a three-way USB-audio-miniUSB cable. This three-way cable has actually been a great convenience, because I can listen to music while charging it through the same hole. The only problem is, it gets a little staticy sometimes if you charge it while plugging it to your iPod. I think this only happens when it's fully charged, so it's safe to just disconnect the USB, so no problem at all. Also, the black carrying bag picks up a bit of dust but really these are the only complaints I can ever give this loveable package.
BUY BUY BUY BUY IT IS A STEAL AT $16, I WOULD BUY 10000 OF THESE IF I COULD
Also, it's about 2 inches in diameter.
Static noiseAugust 30, 2010 Douglas C. Reid(Raleigh, North Carolina United States) Bought this product the other day. About 20 min after I start a playback it emits a loud squealing noise that will not stop unless I unplug it. Worthless - get a better quality system.
Great little speakerAugust 23, 2010 T. Carlson(Wisconsin) I would rate the sound quality "Excellent considering the size", but overall, Very Good is fair. My only complaint is that I wish it expanded to the size it appears in all the photos. Mine only expands about 1cm. When I stretch it longer, it sounds even better, but when I let go it snaps back.
Good device, bad battery lifeAugust 23, 2010 BigWhoop 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The iMH7 is a cool device. The sound quality is definitely impressive for its size, and you can take it anywhere since it's about the size of a yo-yo. Two major complaints though:
1. The battery life is nowhere near what I thought it be. I would have been happy with 3-4 hours off the charger with music from my phone playing at full volume. Instead, I can only get 1.5 hours AT BEST. Very disappointing, since I mainly got it for listening to at work. Now, I could just use it while it's plugged in, but that brings me to...
2. The charging/audio cable sent with the device is poorly designed. For some weird reason, the audio jack is closer to the charging end of the cable, rather than the speaker's end of the cable, and the audio jack's cable is very short. It makes it very tough to use any wall socket, since your phone/mp3 player/psp etc. will basically have to DANGLE in mid-air from a wall socket, unless you have something to place your player on that's at the perfect height. The cable's design makes sense for a laptop, sure, but what about all the other devices you can use with the speakers? Such a short-sighted design. I noticed iHome sells a long version of this cable for $10, so hoooooow convenient, right? The X-Mini 2 design with the audio jack on the speaker is much better.
Without those issues, I would have given it 5 stars.
Needs better bass and volume controlAugust 20, 2010 Kris Compared to other portable speakers that were larger, this one is much smaller and lighter, and I love the built in rechargeable battery. However, size probably does matter when it comes to sound quality, as this one has hardly any bass, which makes the treble seem way too loud. It's hard to use it with ipod touch apps and internet, because you can't really control volume and it screams treble way too loudly. I will keep it for minor uses, but it won't suffice for watching movies and dancing to music.
