Amazon.com Product Description
The Sennheiser PX 100 Headphones use dynamic supra-aural mini headphones and a slim, lightweight design to provide convenience and superior sound to the traveler or outdoor user. Sennheiser's duoful diaphragms with spiral embossing provide high-resolution sound, while the twin damping technology creates crisp, fast bass response, helped by 80ppi polyurethane and special perforated elements. The ear cups can be turned 90 degrees and closed up, then put into a rugged carrying case that can fit into a shirt pocket. The included headband padding helps provide the perfect, snug fit for your head.

5 out of 5 stars Buy these headphones if you know what's good for you   August 29, 2008
I have been listening to a variety of music every day through iPods, CD Walkmans etc. for years, and these are my favorite headphones that I've ever tried.
The quality of both treble and bass that they offer for their small and lightweight design is remarkable.
Initially I was concerned that they would be fragile due to the folding capability, but they're actually quite stable.
Two of my friends own a pair of these, and they love them as well.
They are so nice that my sister had only listened to one song with them before she asked me to order her a pair.
The first pair I ordered came defective from the box, but amazon was very good about returning them and sending me a new set at no additional charge.

Buy these headphones if you know what's good for you.

5 out of 5 stars Great headphones with just a few drawbacks   August 29, 2008
My initial reaction to these headphones was quite positive, and given their price, I guess they are still earning their five stars. For such an inexpensive pair of headphones, these have stunning sound production and they get the best out of an iPod. I am especially pleased with how the textures of orchestral music come through, with sensitive staging and a warm, rich sound. The bass is really impressive. I was listening to some loud tympanum passages in Ma Vlast and thought for a moment that we were having an earthquake!
However, they're not always perfect, and it seems to depend on the recording. A concert piano can sound a bit electrified; a West African kora comes across as very plucky (i.e., I hear the plucked overtones but less of the actual note). One final downside: if you have perfectly flat ears, you can wear these at the gym or on the jogging track (which seems natural to expect of lightweight, folding headphones). I do not, so they're going to have to stay at home.
I'll repeat what other reviewers have said and recommend that you buy these rather than the PX 200's, which are inferior.

5 out of 5 stars I ride a commuter train everyday, these make the trip so much better   August 29, 2008
Just a little background, I hate ear buds. I have tried several types, but haven't ever found anything that would stay in my ears properly. I've even tried the types that come with numerous ear bud attachments. They all were terrible for me. So I've been suffering for a while.

Then I decided to take a chance on these. They are great!!!. I use them mainly on my MP3 player that I listen to on my commute to work and at work. Very nice!!. I have a bald head, and those pads serve to protect me which is great as well. MP3's are usually stripped down versions of music, so I've also used them with my desktop PC for gaming. They are AMAZING!!. I know $40 seems like a lot to pay, but trust me if you listen to headphones at least one hour a day you'll feel like it was money well spent.

4 out of 5 stars Great value but cord a bit short   August 26, 2008
The Sennheiser PX100 headphones sound great and work well if used with an mp3 player or other portable device. At 4.5 feet the cord is about a foot too short, in my opinion. My computer has the sound plug in back, so I need another 12 to 18 inches to gaze comfortably at the screen.

5 out of 5 stars PX 100 is the Way to Go   August 26, 2008

If you're looking to buy quality headphones at a cheaper price- look no further, these little babies are certainly worth it. I bought mine two and a half years ago, and they are still lasting perfectly fine- just one single pair lasting more than TWO YEARS! That has to say something about the higher quality of Sennheiser. I know one of the reviews says that they went through 3 pairs in 18 months- must have had a run of really bad luck with defective pairs (or handled them carelessly).

I am an extremely heavy music listener. I have my headphones on A LOT. I take them everywhere with me- on road trips, on long walks, for watching movies on the computer, on the way to and from work and school, and these PX 100s have NEVER failed me. I use to go through 2 to 3 pairs a year, but not anymore. You have to use common sense and treat them well, they are only going to last as long as you take care of them. They come with a storage case, use it and they should perform fine for a long time as they have for me.

If you have never heard better sound quality in headphones and have been sticking with the cheaper $20 and less pairs, you will be in for quite a treat. And you will most likely never want to listen to the cheaper headphones again (I sure don't). I know they are not the $500 pair of studio headphones, but they are a HUGE step up from the cheapos you see people everywhere using- people who have no idea just how valuable good sound is.

I listen to a very wide range of music- from opera to metal, ethnic fusion to movie soundtracks, and R&B to even a tiny bit of country, and these headphones really improve each song I listen to- it's like they let these songs breathe much freer. I can hear aspects of songs I never even knew were there (because of listening through cheap headphones).

Don't go back to the $20 headphones, these Sennheisers are worth every penny. I'm actually very surprised that they are sold for this cheap. Once these finally stop working (I'm starting to wonder just how far into the future that will be), I will certainly come back to Sennheiser, maybe even buy another pair of PX 100s, but Sennheiser is IT.
