1 out of 5 stars I was wrong with this,   September 5, 2008
As an Engineer, I thought I should be able to figure it out how to get this to work. I was wrong. After three technical support phone calls and 8 hours wasted, I gave up and bought Dlink DIR-655 instead. Should have trusted most of your reviews. here are the problems
- Ethernet port should be GB on blue light and 100mb on green light according to the menu. Mine shown opposite.
- Connection speed keep changing from 270mbit to 15mbit. Youtube session keep dropping. Tech support engineer was patient to try all configuration options and end up tell me possible a defective item

Dlink DIR-655 installed was easy and constantly at 300mbit

4 out of 5 stars Router's good, LELA's a pain   September 3, 2008
This is my third Linksys router, and I've always been very happy with Linksys. This one is no different, with one minor caveat. The WRT610N's signals are great, and I love the fact that I can plug my WD MyBook backup drive into the router and use it as a network drive. The only reason I downgraded my rating to 4 stars is because the LELA software that comes with it was a total pain. The installation on my Vista SP1 machine initially failed, or at least that's what the error message said. I finally exited the setup and noticed the LELA icon on my desktop. I clicked it and tried to change some settings on my router - no joy. I finally logged directly into the router, at which point I got the familiar Linksys customization menu. If you've ever set up a Linksys router before, the only difference is that you'll set up two networks instead of one.

Once I had my router set up "by hand", the LELA software could see everything on my network. The graphical interface is a nice touch, but not something I'd consider essential.

In short, the router performance has been excellent, but I think the new software could use a little work.

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Cent   August 31, 2008
Pros: A worthy upgrade from a G router.
Very feature rich and if you know what you are doing, fairly easy to setup though I did struggle with getting the 5.0 band to deliver N at full speed (I used WPA2-AES).
Im running it on N wireless and the speed is great. It also does a good job of downshifting / upshifting as the signal changes through the house.

Cons: LELA is not good. Don't even think about using it. If you can't configure this manually, find someone who can.

Other Thoughts: Keep in mind this is a 1.0 release right now, so if you are not willing to suffer through a few bumps in the road, a more mature product may be for you.
Be sure to upgrade the firmware when you get it!

3 out of 5 stars Linksys WRT610 Connection Issues   August 29, 2008
I recently purchased the WRT610N and the matching Linksys WSUB600N dual band adapter. First some comments on the router set-up. The WRT610N router was very easy to install and configure. Using the new Linksys set-up wizard is very straight forward. However, in setting up encryption on the router be prepared to spend time on the phone with Linksys. Setting up wireless encryption is a very trying experience. However, it's doable with good tech support. The wired Ethernet network connection works as advertised. Also, using the matching Linksys WSUB600N USB Ethernet network adapter was also straight forward. I used a Lenovo R61 laptop with the WSUB600N. Keeping a stable network connections on both radio bands was problematic. The network connection would keep dropping. (I should explain that I was only six feet away from the router, and there were no other wireless devices present}. Has anyone else heard of this? I've returned the WSUB600N adapter for an exchange. I haven't tested out the replacement. I will report back on what I find out. The last item I had a chance to test was the Storagelink interface. Go into the router configuration settings and select the UPnP media server settings and away you go. I was able to establish a connection to the WRT610N media server from a PS3 console. I haven't done any streaming to see if this works. Where I am having issues is in using USB attached storage to show up as a share on Vista. Using the WRT610N web interface to configure share permissions is confusing at best. Anyone who can point me to any documentation that lays out this process would make my day.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   August 28, 2008
This Linksys is the most expensive router I have purchased. For the price I expected trouble-free music streaming AND good tech support. I recieved neither. To be honest, I could have rated the router higher for some of its advanced features if the tech support had not been so useless.
