Love it so far!August 30, 2008 So far, I'm very happy with this drive--it's been really fast and extremely handy. I love the fact that it is USB-powered, and I can transport my entire hard drive from home no matter where I go.
I did have an older WD drive (I think it was only 80GB) that just stopped working on me after about 3 years, so I am going to be careful and not consider this drive a "permanent" backup. I would still keep a separate backup of important/permanent files. However, for day-to-day access to all of my documents, this is just great--one of my favorite things.
It is also a perfect gift for a new parent--all the pictures and video of baby really fill up a hard drive quickly!

I really like the stylistic aspects of this hard drive. It is small enough to take anywhere you want to take it. The drive itself is very easy to use. It does have a significant weakness and that is the fact that it solely depends on the usb port for its power source. My laptop could not actually handle the power that the passport hard drive required and I kept getting an error message about a power surge. I fixed that problem by buying a powered usb hub to plug into my computer and then connected the portable hard drive to my laptop that way. That is my one complaint about the portable hard drive, but it was a simple fix that added about $25 dollars to what I spent on the hard drive itself.
WD PassportAugust 29, 2008 So far everything is working fine. I had some problem with one of my USB ports, but I believe the computer should be blammed.
Great ProductAugust 29, 2008 This really is a great product. It is worth every penny and more. The WD 320 Passport is very quiet and reliable. I carry it with me where ever I go and have access to my files. I traveled to Europe and I placed both my video and picture files in it and brought them home securely.
I've recommended this product to my friends and they've also purchased it and are very happy with it.
